ALBUMS THAT SAVED MY LIFE

We will probably look back to 2020 as the worst year ever but for music, it brought back and gave us fresh tunes we never knew we needed. So here’s some of the new releases that probably saved me from going crazy during quarantine.

Before shit happened, me and my sisters were coincidentally reminiscing the first time we heard a The Strokes song and wondering if we’ll ever get to see them live so we decided to check out their socials and found out that they were releasing a new album! It was so good to hear Julian’s voice again with their oh so good instruments. Imagine my shock when “The New Normal” was what they called life after the pandemic, pretty sure The Strokes can see the future? My fave is Bad Decisions which dropped with a fun MV on what could be, but hopefully not, the new normal to concerts with robots to interact with instead of the actual artists.

If you know know me you’ll know that Paramore is..my life and after they announced their hiatus after After Laughter I didn’t think I’d get a new release from them in a long time but to my surprise Hayley announced that she was gonna release a solo project with a new sound! Totally loved her solo, a comforting and empowering R&B with juicy lyrics about her separation from her ex. Simmer got me intrigued but Crystal Clear and Why We Ever were just?? Perfect. Other songs? All bops. Cool MVs and homemade ones? Priceless.

I always try to listen to new stuff but most of the new k-pop releases just didn’t click with me until I watched their very powerful God’s Menu! I dove right in and found out that they’re also self-produced which, if you know about k-pop, isn’t common. Followed by the addictive Back Door and my fave, Ex, which is slower compared to their other songs and yes a love song!

Time travelled to the early 2000s with this! Suddenly felt like a teen again in my room, feeling shit and just blasting music. Care was the first single off the album and it just had me hooked and excited for the release. Bea really did great in this and even paired with fun MVs that also resembled the era. Worth It is my fave!

Read somewhere that music is like decorating time so let’s stay strong and healthy until this is all over and we can listen to these awesome albums live soon! If I missed any please let me know and I’ll give ‘em a listen!
